Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using animo.li ("the Service", "we", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

animo.li is a platform for the De La Salle University (DLSU) community that provides:

  • Link Shortener: Create and manage custom short links (e.g., animo.li/your-slug) with click analytics and QR code generation. This feature is free for all users.
  • Link-in-Bio Profile: Create a public profile page (e.g., animo.li/zel) with a display name, bio, avatar, cover photo, background photo, social/profile links, and organization affiliations. This feature is free for all users.
  • Event Management: Create event pages with custom registration forms, manage attendee responses, and export data to Google Sheets. Event creation is a paid feature (₱99 per event or via the Animo Plus subscription).

3. Eligibility & Accounts

The Service is primarily intended for the Lasallian community. Access requires signing in with a Google account via Google OAuth.

  • You must provide accurate information during the authentication process. Your account information (name, email, profile picture) is sourced from your Google account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your session or allow unauthorized access.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior.

4. Link Shortener

  • You may create custom short links with unique slugs. Slugs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • You must not create short links that redirect to content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • You must not use the link shortener for phishing, distributing malware, spam, or any deceptive or fraudulent purpose.
  • We reserve the right to disable or remove any short link at our discretion, particularly links that violate these Terms or are reported as abusive.
  • We reserve a set of slugs for internal or system use. These reserved slugs cannot be claimed by users.
  • Anonymous click count analytics are collected for all links. We do not track individual visitors across links.

5. Link-in-Bio Profiles

  • Each user may create one Link-in-Bio profile with a unique slug. Slugs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to the same reserved-slug restrictions as short links.
  • You are responsible for all content you publish on your profile, including your display name, bio, profile links, and affiliations. You must not publish content that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, or that violates university policies.
  • You control whether your profile is publicly visible via the published toggle. When published, your profile page (including display name, bio, photos, profile links, and affiliations) is accessible to anyone, including unauthenticated visitors.
  • You control the visibility of your email address on your profile. You may set it to: public (visible to all), DLSU-only (visible only to signed-in @dlsu.edu.ph users), or disabled (hidden from everyone).
  • You may upload images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF) for your avatar, cover photo, and background photo. You must not upload images that are illegal, infringe on third-party rights, or contain malware.
  • You may add profile links pointing to external URLs. You must not add links that redirect to phishing pages, malware, or other harmful content.
  • We reserve the right to remove, disable, or take down any profile at our sole discretion if it violates these Terms or is otherwise inappropriate.

6. Event Management

6.1 Event Organizers

  • Event creation is a paid feature. You can pay per event (₱99) or subscribe to Animo Plus (₱249/month for up to 3 events per month).
  • Payments are processed via PayPal. Refund policies follow PayPal's standard terms unless otherwise specified.
  • You are responsible for the content of your event pages, including titles, descriptions, cover images, and registration form fields.
  • You must not create events that promote illegal activities, discrimination, harassment, or any content that violates university policies.
  • As an event organizer, you act as a data controller for the registration data you collect. You are responsible for using attendee data only for the stated purpose of your event.
  • You may share event management access with collaborators via email invitations. Roles include "editor" and "responses" access levels.
  • Each event instance is for a single event only. You must not reuse, repurpose, or recycle an existing event instance for a different event. If you need to host a new event, you must create a new event instance.
  • We reserve the right to remove, disable, or take down any event at our sole discretion if we determine that it constitutes abuse, violates these Terms, or is otherwise inappropriate.

6.2 Event Registrants

  • When you register for an event, the information you submit (including name, email, ID number, and any custom field responses) is shared with the event organizer.
  • Event organizers may export your registration data to Google Sheets. Once exported, the data is subject to the organizer's own data handling practices.
  • Your ID number, if provided, may be stored in your profile to pre-fill future event registrations for your convenience.

7. Payments & Billing

  • The link shortener and Link-in-Bio profiles are free for all users with no usage limits.
  • Event creation requires payment: ₱99 per individual event or ₱249 per month for Animo Plus (up to 3 events/month).
  • All prices are in Philippine Pesos (PHP). Payments are processed through PayPal.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Existing paid events will not be affected by price changes.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all content you create on animo.li (including profile content, event descriptions, cover images, and form configurations). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host and display your content as necessary to provide the Service. We do not claim ownership over your content.

The animo.li name, logo, and branding are our intellectual property. You may not use our branding in a way that implies endorsement without permission.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Create links, events, or profile content that contains or promotes malware, phishing, hate speech, harassment, or other harmful content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including via automated bots, scrapers, or denial-of-service attacks.
  • Impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.
  • Circumvent any security measures, rate limits, or access controls implemented by the Service.

10. File Storage & Uploads

Users may upload images (avatar, cover photo, and background photo) for their Link-in-Bio profile, and event organizers may upload cover images for their events. Uploaded files are stored on our servers using S3-compatible storage. You must not upload files that are illegal, infringe on third-party rights, or contain malware. We reserve the right to remove any uploaded content that violates these Terms.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth: Used for authentication. Subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Google Sheets: Optional integration for exporting event registration data. Subject to Google's Terms of Service.
  • PayPal: Used for payment processing. Subject to PayPal's User Agreement.
  • Resend: Used for sending transactional emails (e.g., event collaboration invitations). Subject to Resend's Terms of Service.

We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms.

12. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times. animo.li is a community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by De La Salle University.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Data associated with your account may be deleted after a reasonable retention period, subject to our Privacy Policy and any legal obligations.

14. Governing Law & University Policies

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Metro Manila, Philippines.

Users who are DLSU students, faculty, or staff are additionally subject to the DLSU Student Handbook and the policies of the Student Discipline Formation Office (SDFO). Any violation of these Terms that also constitutes a violation of university policies may be referred to the SDFO for appropriate action.
